You can select several different categories within Business Finance Assistant. For example, you can categorise your expenses as ‘Travel’ or ‘Utilities’ or your incomings as ‘Sales – Service’ or ‘Sales – Product’.
If you can’t find the category you’re looking for, you can create your own by following these steps:
- Go to the ‘Bank Transactions’ page
- Choose a transaction in 'edit' mode and click within the 'Category' field
- Select the appropriate 'parent category' to open the sub-menu
- Select 'Customise Categories' at the bottom of the sub-menu
- Select 'New Category' to enter the name of your new category and please ensure your new category is linked to the correct parent category
- Click 'Done' to save
Please note that you can type the first few letters of the category into the 'ENTER CATEGORY' field so you don't have to 'search' through the list of available categories. In the screenshot below, type 'Loan' from your keypad to view the list of 'loan' categories available, including the newly created category:
To disable a category:
- Unreconcile any bank transactions linked to the category
- Disable the category by opening the 'Customise Categories' window
- Press 'Disable' to disable the category:
